GRANT DETAILS
The Australian Government allocated $1 billion to the National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) to support investment in priority economic and infrastructure areas – from freight and transport projects to convention centres and major multipurpose sports facilities. The Fund is investing in crucial infrastructure projects that are being conceived by local communities – and this approach is helping Australia’s regions invest in their own future.
The following projects were funded in our region:
Round 1 Successful Project
- Burke Shire Council was successful in receiving a grant of $160,000 for the Construction of a Pontoon Wharf in Burketown.
- Charters Towers Regional Council was successful in receiving a grant of $8.6 million for the Upgrade to water infrastructure for Charter Towers.
- Mount Isa City Council was successful in receiving a grant of $2.5 million for the Upgrade of Stage 2A Sewer Augmentation at Mount Isa.
Round 2 Successful Project
- Burke Shire Council was successful in receiving a grant of $2.2 million for the Doomadgee to Burketown Fibre Link Project.
- Palm Island Aboriginal Council was successful in receiving a grant of $967,908 for the Sewer and Water Infrastructure Upgrade.
- The Corporation of the Diocesan Synod of North Queensland was successful in receiving a grant of $2.2 million for the Redevelopment of St Mark’s, Townsville.
- The Good Shepherd Limited was successful in receiving a grant of $942,888 for the Redevelopment – The Good Shepherd Home Townsville.
Round 3 Successful Project
- Burke Shire Council was successful in receiving a grant of $994,619 for the Upgrade to Burketown Wharf Precinct Project.
