About our Region

RDA’s region incorporates the Northern and North West Statistical Division and Boulia Shire, covering quarter of Queensland. Townsville is the largest centre in the Northern Region, whilst Mount Isa is the largest centre in the North West Region. Agriculture, mining and construction are the three largest contributors to Gross Regional Product (GRP) with financial and insurance services, transport, and public administration also large sectors.

The North West Regional Plan 2010-2031

Released by former Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Stirling Hinchliffe in Mount Isa on 10 August 2010, the plan is the Queensland Government’s long-term strategy for shaping the region over the 20-year period to 2031.
